Losing weight can seem like an uphill battle, and it can be frustrating when you’ve tried all of the diets and fads only to come away without success.  There are a variety of methods that are proven to lose weight, and even if you haven’t accomplished much in the past, they can be the difference between a series of let downs, or the realization that it takes a change in lifestyle to make it work.  In order to lose those extra pounds that have been plaguing you, you’ll need to gather your information, and commit to a system that works for the long term.  Take a look at several different changes or ways to help you to feel success in your weight loss plan.

Eat those greens!  And purples, oranges and yellows too.  In fact, the more varied the colours of veggies you eat, the more nutrients you’re getting.  A great way to lose weight is to change your diet.  Give in to the occasional temptation, but the majority of your food intake should be heavy on veggies.  Fruit is great too, but they do contain natural sugars.  A bit of meat or other protein is good to round it out, and make sure you drink lots of water.   Remember, if you don’t even bring temptation in the house, it’s much easier to make the healthier choice when you need a snack.

Get up and get out

Start moving!  In order to drop those pounds your body needs exercise.  This doesn’t necessarily mean joining your nearest gym (although that will certainly work for some and can be a great way to find inspiration in others) but it does mean getting at least 20 minutes of exercise a day – the kind of exercise that will increase your heart rate for those 20 minutes.  Maybe it’s a fast walk or jog, some jumping jacks or a dance class.  Whatever it is, use exercise as a way to have fun and even socialize.

Get enough sleep

It might not be the first thing that comes to mind in a weight loss plan, but certainly getting enough sleep factors in, especially when it comes to having enough energy for your daily exercise.  In order to be healthy, we all need a good solid 8 hours of rest per night.

Hot and Steamy

Hold on, it’s not what you think!  Sitting in a steam room or sauna can help you drop a few pounds rather quickly.  While this is water weight and not fat, letting your body sweat will increase health in a variety of other ways too.  If you need to lose a few pounds quickly, this can be a great and relaxing way to do it.  Enjoying a steam shower for 30 – 45 minutes per time is said to decrease body weight by about 5 pounds!

You may not be comfortable making huge life changes right from the get go, but even a few small ones over time can make the difference you need.
